Description

19th century Tolosane pots are traditional French ceramic vessels that originated in the Toulouse region of southern France. Historically, they were utilitarian containers used in kitchens and farms to store items like oil, grains, preserved foods, or tools. They’re typically made from terracotta and often finished with a pale cream, white, or soft yellow glaze on the upper portion.

Many have simple rounded forms, subtle ridges, and small side handles or lugs. Over time, wear, patina, and minor imperfections developed from use.Today, Tolosane pots are valued as decorative objects. They’re commonly styled as sculptural accents, planters (with liners), or rustic statement pieces that highlight their history and handmade character.
